She's gone and curled up on her bed being... well, miserable. For a moment she considers lying. Because a conversation about this may lead to her having to talk about things she was trying to avoid. And yet... if he's asking then he probably already suspects that something is wrong. And he is the captain, and he has a right to know what's going on on his ship.
He's been nothing but honest with her. She owes it to him to be the same.]
[ Arrived on her ship in the early morning is a small package, casually and plainly boxed. Inside is a snow globe, just big enough to fit in one hand. It's very plain and even worse, it looks like there's no snow in it.
A note is tacked on: "Found it. Jammed a power cell in and works like a charm. Lucky me. Thought you would appreciate it more though. Anakin"
A second note is tacked on the bottom of it, right underneath a very ordinary switch: "Turn it on!"
Once the switch it flipped, specs of holographic light starts flowing downwards, simulating snowfall. ]
[Anakin is going to get a very delighted video response the next day.]
Thank you so much! [Riona has the globe in hand as the video records. She's watching it with avid fascination, because Thedas has NOTHING like this and it's just so damn cool.] I love it. Makes me wish I had some mittens and a coat right now. How did you get it to do that?
[It's early the morning after the incident on the Iskaulit and Beverly is finally returning back to the Blue Fish looking haggard and worn, yet she's too amped up with emotion to go to sleep yet. She tries, but when she closes her eyes all she can see is Wrath lying there in a pool of blood. So, in true Blue Fish fashion, she makes for the haven of the kitchen. A hot toddy would probably do her a world of good right now.]
[Beverly's not the only one in the kitchen in the wee hours of morning. Riona is making some tea. She had come over to the Iskaulit; she'd seen the horrors as well. When she hears someone come in, she glances over her shoulder.]
[Sokka feels like a sack of crap, but Riona got pretty badly hurt during that mess, and he need to check up on her. Not only that, of course, he has other reasons to contact her- but this is foremost. ]
[His text comes in during the middle of the day, the first chance he's had to really talk with her since he healed her up and put her to sleep to start the rest of her mending. He'd passed out himself for a while, at least a solid day, and when he briefly woke again, it was to find he was back on the Bishop. Now he was in that horrid place where he definitely needed more sleep and even felt tired but couldn't, for the life of him, actually fall asleep.
So he texted his patient instead.]
Still alive over there? Have you even woken up yet?
[Riona hated sleeping for such long periods of time, especially when there's so much else to be done and to help with. But even she knows she's not much good as she is. So slept she did. She's been up and at it for a little while longer than Anders, already having managed to get some food, when he messages her.]
why yes i am. please tell me YOU'VE managed to sleep since we last spoke
[It's not until morning Riona learns it's there, and only because Kiter keeps pawing at the door, sniffing like a dog possessed and tail wagging. When she manages to drag him back and sees the present, her brow lifts. And it lifts even higher when she picks up the note and reads it.
There are two people it could be. Sokka... might do this, she wouldn't put it entirely past him, though she wonders if he'd be able to resist the cake long enough. And he'd likely give it to her in person. So that leaves Culprit #2.]
I'm gonna get you back for this one, Snow.
[But she's laughing, so she really doesn't mean it. Unless Serah shows back up, then Maker help her, she's going to outdo him.
Picking up the cake, she leans back into the room and calls for Alistair.]
[ He starts and stops several times before settling on now to even begin.
It had already been several hours now, between his own selfish breakdown and even falling asleep for a time, as restless as that had been. Now he'd been quiet too long and he owed it to Riona to say something after all of....that.]
I'm not sure if I should start with I'm sorry or thank you.
[She had her own breakdown on Alistair's shoulder, and it's only because of his comfort and listening ear she worked through it as well as was possible. Still, she's left feeling raw. A part of her dreads what might come next when she sees Anders's text, but she can't ignore him.]
you don't have to apologize. we both knew it was going to be rough. ...are you holding up okay?
[When they get to the Yadrolla system, Alistair gets a great idea for something to do. After a few jobs to earn some extra money, he makes some purchases and heads back to the Blue Fish. Heading to the room he shares with his wife, he smiles as he sees her with Kiter and Doglord.]
The queen of Ferelden and her loyal subjects, I see.
[The dog and cat are getting along, at least for now. Luckily there's enough room on the bed for them both. Riona's currently reading something when she hears the door open. Seeing Alistair walk in, she automatically smiles in response.]
Indeed. My loyal, furry, and currently sleepy subjects. [That's when she notices the bags he's carrying.] What'd you get?
[Justice is confused and sad and hurt and he doesn't know how to deal with it. Of course, Riona now has to put up with this.
He forgets (again) to knock before just barging into her room, holding a purring Loyalty and looking utterly miserable, especially by his standards. He could almost be considered expressive.]
Riona, I require your expertise on mortal matters.
[Thank the Maker Justice has yet to barge in which Riona and Alistair are, ahem, enjoying some alone time. Once again, he lucks out, catching Riona alone as she's putting away a few clothes she bought in the last world.
Riona startles a bit, but quickly settles when she realizes it's Justice. But that quickly turns into concern at his state. Oh, Maker, what's happened?]
