Eh, it's ... It is. Sort of. It's just different here. Do you find that you can't do the same things here as you can when you're at ...home?

Not that I've noticed. I've heard of magic being hampered here, but I don't really having anything of that sort. And just about everything in the fleet is new to me. [She shrugs.] Admittedly, there are one or two things I haven't been able to test.

Oh? [ He's interested to say the least. ] Wait, you... don't have magic? Or do you?

No, I do not. I am no mage. I just hit things with a sword and occasionally a shield.

[sandhate]

[ He chuckles. ] That I can relate to. Some of us familiar with space travel still like hitting things with a sword and occasionally a shield.

[The term is unfamiliar to her; she furrows her brow as she thinks on it.] I'm afraid I don't know what that is.

Oh sure, I'd always like to learn how to wield another weapon. [A pause as a thought occurs to her.] Are they anything like the guns they have on the ships?

[sandhate]

Yes, they're exactly like guns. [ He shrugs ] We just tend to call them blasters where I'm from.

[bryces_pup]

Ah! Then I have fired one. It's... I found it strange. It's quite different from what we have in Thedas. Something that little capable of causing that amount of damage is... impressive. And disturbing.

[sandhate]

Nothing beats a saber- sword in your hand, but a good blaster can be very useful when you need to keep distance from your enemy.

What are the guns you're familiar with?

Only whatever is on my ship.

[sandhate]

And back in your world? Do you have guns back in Thedas?

[bryces_pup]

Not even remotely. We have crossbows and bows and arrows. That's the closest thing we have to guns.

[sandhate]

[ He winces, even though he doesn't mean to. Right, pre-spaceflight. He keeps his enthusiasm. ]

Those... have it's advantages. But blasters are so much more fun.

Truly? I find the "kick" the guns give you when shot rather troublesome.

Really? I actually like the kick. It's a little cherry on top when you get a good shot in.

Cherry on top? I'm afraid I don't understand that phrase.

I thought you liked snow and ice! Cold things! How is it possible you've never had a sundae!?

[ catching himself before he goes on, he breathes ]
